Annotation:

The purpose of this work is to introduce mathematics lovers to the most important works of P.L.Chebyshev, A.N.Korkin, E.I.Zolotarev, A.A.Markov, G.V.Voronoroy and I.M.Vinogradov of the St. Petersburg school of number theory. A brief biography is given for each of the named authors. and a summary of two or three of his main works on number theory. Each work under consideration is presented first with the preservation of the terminology and designations of the author, that is, an abstract is given that makes it easier to read it in the original, and then more or less extensive comments on it. Further most important works of the St. Petersburg school of number theory belong to the author of this book and Venkov, Kuzmin, Tartakovsky and Linnik.
