Annotation:

This book is devoted to special issues of elastic body statics, which can be solved by integrating differential equations of the mathematical theory of elasticity. The purpose of the book is to introduce the student and the practical worker to the course of mathematical methods and techniques for solving the problems listed above and to help them understand the vast literature devoted to them. A number of significant additions have been made to the book, these additions relate to the derivation of the basic equations of the theory of thin rods and shells, the problem of bending a very thin plate, the question of the stability of the flat shape of the bending beam, etc.
