Annotation:
The original, which served as the material for this facsimile edition, is kept as a national treasure in the State Historical Museum in Moscow. This is a very large handwritten book written on parchment in the early 70th century and completed in 1073 during the reign of Svyatoslav, son of Yaroslav the Wise. The Svyatoslav's Election Book of 1073 is a cultural monument of three East Slavic peoples: Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian, as it is written in the Old Russian literary language. Svyatoslav's election book reflects the now lost or transformed grammatical forms and categories. The reader will also find obsolete or now lost words. But a lover of a book, especially an ancient book, will feel the enduring aroma of antiquity in this, and a scientist will receive the most valuable material for research. The purpose of the book is to provide materials about the Izbornik, to highlight its history, external features and to establish its place among other historical sources.
