Washington Irving was an American short story writer, essayist, biographer, historian and diplomat of the early 19th century. Traveler's Tales is a collection of essays and short stories written by Washington Irving when he lived in Europe, primarily in Germany and Paris. The four parts of the "tales" include: "The Strange Stories of a Nervous Gentleman", "Buckthorn and his Friends", "Italian Bandits" and "Money Diggers".
